These seven values help lead us in our mission to build legacies for Christ!
We are not ashamed of the gospel. So we proclaim the truths of scripture boldly in every area of life. Small Groups, Sunday Schools, and The Lord’s Day Service, are the places that we equip the saint to do the work of the Lord. Expository preaching, line by line, precept by precept Is how the Word is taught on The Lord’s Day. We believe that God has something to say about every facet of life. Family, Church, and Society and will speak to them as God does.
Rom. 1:16, Matt. 28:18-20, Psalm 1, Acts 2:46-47, Lk. 4:17-21
We hold to the historic and universal confessions and creeds of the reformed church. We see that confessions are in scripture so we keep them ourselves. Confessions are tested teaching tools that lay out the Christian faith in clear, systematic ways that demonstrate connection among the doctrines. The confessions also demonstrate the standard we hold for our teaching and preaching ministry. We hold to the Apostles Creed, Nicene Creed, Chalcedon, Athanasian, Baptist Faith and Message 2000, and The Second London Baptist Confession.
Rom. 10:9; 1 Cor. 15:3–7; Phil. 2:6–11; Col. 1:15–20
Taken from the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession Chapter 26
12. As all believers are bound to join themselves to particular churches, when and where they have opportunity so to do; so all that are admitted unto the privileges of a church, are also under the censures and government thereof, according to the rule of Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:14; 2 Thessalonians 3:6, 14, 15
13. No church members, upon any offence taken by them, having performed their duty required of them towards the person they are offended at, ought to disturb any church-order, or absent themselves from the assemblies of the church, or administration of any ordinances, upon the account of such offence at any of their fellow members, but to wait upon Christ, in the further proceeding of the church. Matthew 18:15-17; Ephesians 4:2, 3
14. As each church, and all the members of it, are bound to pray continually for the good and prosperity of all the churches of Christ, in all places, and upon all occasions to further it (every one within the bounds of their places and callings, in the exercise of their gifts and graces) so the churches (when planted by the providence of God so as they may enjoy opportunity and advantage for it) ought to hold communion among themselves, for their peace, increase of love, and mutual edification. Ephesians 6:18; Psalms 122:6; Romans 16:1, 2; 3 John 8-10
We are a Reformed Baptist church. So the Bible is taught in a covenantal understanding. We are Striving for elder-led leadership. We believe in the sovereignty of God without any stipulations. We believe in the Doctrines of Grace, We believe in the 5 Solas.
Sola Scriptura - The Bible is our final authority The Scriptures teach us everything that we need to make us wise for salvation through faith in Christ and to be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Tim. 3:15–17
Sola Christus - All our belief must be focused on Christ. Christ is the main point of the Bible, and the whole Bible testifies to Him. There is no fellowship with God apart from Christ, and we count all things loss compared to the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 5:39; Luke 24:27; 1 Peter 1:10–12; Phil. 3:8.
Sola Fide - All belief must be faith driven, without faith it is impossible to please God. We live by faith in the Son of God who loved us and gave Himself for us.
Heb. 11:6; Gal. 2:20
Sola Gratia - Our faith and belief must be grace-saturated! Grace is God’s generous disposition by which He lavishes us with good things that we do not deserve. Everything we receive from God is by grace, from our daily bread to the final resurrection of our bodies. The Holy Spirit teaches us through Scripture that salvation is by grace alone because salvation is by faith in Christ alone.
2 Cor. 1:2; Gal. 1:3; Eph. 1:2; Phil. 1:2; Ps. 145:8
Soli Deo Gloria - All faith and belief is for God’s Glory alone! All all life is for Christ. We worship and adore the Triune God. We strive for excellence before the throne of God.
Col. 3:17
We are proudly a Baptist church, specifically in the historic Southern Baptist Convention. So we believe in believers baptism.
1. Baptism is an ordinance of the New Testament, ordained by Jesus Christ. To those baptized it is a sign of their fellowship with him in his death and resurrection, of their being grafted into him, of remission of sins, and of submitting themselves to God through Jesus Christ to live and walk in newness of life.
2. Those who personally profess repentance toward God and faith in and obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ are the only proper subjects of this ordinance.
3. The outward element to be used in this ordinance is water, in which the individual is to be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
4. Immersion, or dipping of the person in water, is necessary for this ordinance to be administered properly.
Rom. 6:3–5; Col. 2:12; Gal. 3:27; Mark. 1:4; Acts 22:16; Rom. 6:4; Mark 16:16; Acts 8:36, 37; Acts 2:41; Acts 8:12; Acts 18:8; Matt. 28:19, 20; Acts 8:38; Matt. 3:16; John 3:23.
We are a family integrated church. We believe that the family is the primary vehicle to evangelize children and so we are committed to being a church that equips Dads and Moms to disciple the children God has given to them. We believe in Christian education and so we encourage parents to educate their children outside of the state schools. We are Pro-life. We are committed to the Bible’s view on marriage, sexuality, and gender. We believe God when He calls children a blessing and we will obey Christ in His command to bring the children to him.
Deut. 6:7; Exodus 20:12-14; Matt. 19:4-7; Rom. 1:18-32; Psalm 127:3-5.
We are a mission minded, disciple making church. We care about the lost and share the gospel to the whole world. We believe that it is the church’s job to equip the saints to share the gospel, to make more disciples and better disciples. This is done through small groups, student ministries, Sunday Schools and local ministry outreaches. We aim to send men and women out to share the gospel, around their dinner tables, all over Sarasota, Florida, America, and the world. We are in membership with the Southern Baptist Convention so that we can do the work of the great commission and have greater mission impact in our country and around the world.
Matthew 28:16-20.
